When you open the app and are not signed in, you see the sign-in screen. You can sign in with an email address and password, a passkey, or Google or Apple.
Sign in with email and password
- Enter your email address in the "EMAIL" field.
- Enter your password.
- Tap "Sign in".
If you forgot your password, tap "Forgot password?" under the password field and follow the steps on the screen.
Sign in with Google or Apple
Tap "Continue with Google" or "Continue with Apple". Google opens its own sign-in screen. Apple opens a browser sheet to finish signing in, and then returns you to the app.
If the email on that Google or Apple account already has a Bluedeer account, the app asks "This email already has a Bluedeer account. Connect Apple to it?" (or Google). Tap "Connect" to sign in to that account first, and Apple or Google is then connected to it. Tap "No thanks" to change nothing. See How do I connect Apple or Google to my account?
Sign in with a passkey
If you have added a passkey to your account, tap "Sign in with a passkey" and confirm with your fingerprint, face or device PIN. A passkey sign-in does not ask for a two-factor code.
On iPhone, passkeys saved in iCloud Keychain work in the app. On Android, passkeys saved in Google Password Manager work. Passkeys are added to an existing account, so you can't create an account with one. To add, rename or remove passkeys on the phone, go to Settings, then Profile & plan, then Passkeys.
Create an account
- Tap "Create one" under "No account yet?".
- Enter your full name, your email address and a password.
- If you have a referral code, tap "Have a referral code?" and enter it. This step is optional.
- Tap "Create account".
- On the "Verify Your Email" screen, enter the 6-digit code sent to your email address. The email has the code at the start of its subject line, for example "834935 is your Bluedeer verification code", and the code expires after 10 minutes.
If your email address is not verified, the app opens the "Verify Your Email" screen when you sign in with your email and password. Enter the 6-digit code sent to you, then sign in again. If you sign in with Google or Apple, or the app cannot open that screen, it shows a "Verify your email" message instead, saying the address must be verified before you sign in. Sign in again to get a new code.
Two-factor codes
If two-factor authentication is on for your account, the app shows "Confirm it's you" after your password. Enter the current code from your authenticator app. Signing in with a passkey skips this step.
To turn two-factor authentication on or off, go to Settings, then Profile & plan, then Two-Factor Auth.
