These steps are for the web app. Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar, click Settings, then choose the Account tab.
Change your display name
- Click Edit name.
- In the Display name box, type the name you want. It can be up to 50 characters.
- Click Save. The button stays off until the name is different from the current one.
Change your password
- Under Security & Authentication, find Password and click Change.
- In the Change password window, enter your Current password, then a New password, then the same password in Confirm new password. The new password needs at least 8 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a symbol, such as ! or #. A symbol is any character that is not a letter, a number or a space. Under the password box, each rule gets a tick as soon as your password meets it. Bluedeer also turns down passwords that appear in known data leaks or are too close to your email.
- Under Other devices, choose one option:
- Sign out all other devices (recommended, selected by default). Anyone signed in elsewhere has to sign in again with the new password. You stay signed in here.
- Keep other devices signed in. Your other phones and browsers stay signed in.
- Click Change password. Bluedeer also emails you to confirm the change.
When the change is saved, click Done. If Bluedeer could not sign out your other devices, it tells you. You can then sign them out under Signed-in devices on the same tab.
A password you set before these rules keeps working. You don't need to change it; the rules apply only when you choose a new one.
If you have forgotten your current password, follow How do I sign in, and what if I forget my password?
