What is a connector?

A connector lets the Bluedeer assistant reach an outside service, such as Gmail or a tool server you add, from inside your chats.

A connector is a link between the Bluedeer assistant and a service outside Bluedeer. Once a connector is connected, the assistant can use that service's tools while it answers you. For example, it can search your Gmail, read a Google Sheet, or find a page in Notion.

There are two kinds.

  • Built-in services. Google Sheets, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Apps Script and Slack. Each person signs in with their own account.
  • Custom connectors. A service that runs its own tool server. You add it by its MCP server URL, or with one click from the popular connectors list (Notion and Atlassian are there, for example), and connect your own account. Only you can use the connectors you add.

Connectors are per person. Everyone in a workspace adds the connectors they want and connects their own account. Nobody else, the owner and admins included, can see or use yours, and the assistant never uses someone else's account for you.

Jira, Confluence and Notion are not built in. To use them, add the Atlassian connector (for Jira and Confluence) or the Notion connector from Popular connectors. Read Connect a popular connector with one click.

Your connectors belong to you in one workspace. A service you connect in your personal workspace is not used in your team workspaces, and the other way round. If you leave a workspace, or are removed from it, your connectors there are deleted.

Some actions a connector can take pause for your approval first. Read How do I approve, allow or stop an action from a connector? to see how that works.

To find your connectors, read Where to find your connectors.

Before you connect anything, read What can a connector see and do?. A connector is run by another service, not by Bluedeer.
