Each chat, file and project in a team has a privacy setting. Team owners and admins cannot open private items.
Chats
A chat is private to you by default. Other people can see a chat in these cases:
- You create a share link for it with Share conversation. See Set team share link rules for who may create links.
- The chat is in a project that the team can see. Chats in a project follow the project's visibility.
Files
In File manager, open the file's menu and select Share. Only the person who created the file sees Share, so only they can change who can open it or create its links. This applies to team admins and the owner too. Under General access, choose one of these options:
- Only you (or Only people invited once you have invited someone): only you and the people you invite can open the file. Not even team admins can read it.
- Anyone at followed by the workspace's name: every active member of the team can open the file.
- Anyone with the link: anyone with the link can view the file, if the team's sharing settings allow it.
Projects
When you create a project in a team, choose one of these options under Visibility:
- Only me: only the creator can see the project. An admin who manages a project sees it as Only its creator.
- Everyone in the workspace: every active member can see the project.
When someone leaves
If you leave a team or are removed from it, the content you shared with the team may stay in the team. Content that is private to you is not shared with the team.
To see what each role can change, read Roles in a team.
